OVERVIEW
In this course, participants
will gain a thorough conceptual understanding of the Oracle CODASYL
database architecture. They
will learn how to create, set, maintain and troubleshoot an Oracle CODASYL
database. As well as
efficiently load data, control and audit database access. Participants will also learn how to handle small crisis’s that
can arise in the database environment and create database security
measures within the database. This
course will address frequently asked questions that will prepare participants to troubleshoot “real world”
issues and allow students to ask individual questions about their
particular database environments.
AT COURSE COMPLETION
Students will be able to: |
- Describe the role of the DBA within an organization
- Understand
components of Oracle CODASYL DBMS and their
interaction
- Design an efficient database model
- Create an Oracle CODASYL DBMS database
- Monitor the day-to-day operations of Oracle CODASYL DBMS
databases
- Identify the "dos" and "don’ts" of
Oracle CODASYL DBMS administration
- Identify key measures of database performance
- Have ability to backup and restore databases from DBO backup
files and after image journals.
- Handle "small" crisis that may arise in an Oracle
CODASYL DBMS environment
- Establish appropriate levels of database security for your
environment

PREREQUISITES
Students attending this course should have completed
VMS Utilities and Commands, or be experienced with the commands and
utilities available in VMS.
