TRAINING ->
DBMS COURSES -> DBMS PERFORMANCE &
TUNING
Next Scheduled Class: Duration: 3
days
TBD Cost: $3,000 US Dollars
OVERVIEW
This course introduces participants to a series of
tuning steps, which can be used to improve the performance of the Oracle
CODASYL server. The focus is
on database rather than specific operating system performance issues. Participants will gain practical hands-on experience tuning a
production-scale Oracle CODASYL database. In the process, participants learn how to recognize, troubleshoot
and resolve common performance related problems and improve performance
and concurrency issues including problem diagnosis and performance
enhancements.
AT COURSE COMPLETION
Students will be able to: |
- Identify key parameters affecting database performance
- Interpret DBO/ANALYZE output
- Interpret DBO/DUMP output
- Interpret DBO/SHOW STATISTICS output
- Interpret VMS MONITOR output as relates to database
performance
- Monitor database for performance problems
- Identify and resolve database performance bottlenecks
- Recommend and implement changes to the schema/storage schema
to optimize database performance
- Recommend and implement changes to the database environment
to optimize database performance
- Use the online restructure utility to restructure
database with minimal downtime
- Use the DBO/UNLOAD and DBO/LOAD facility to reload portions
of their database should it be necessary
- Use the DBO/UNLOAD facility to extract data from the
database
